Wawcash
Wawcash makes fuel credit accessible to drivers in Senegal
ABOUT THE COMPANY
Wawcash is a digital financing service for drivers and delivery workers in Senegal. Through a mobile and web app, it gives drivers access to short-term credit for fuel. The pitch is simple: fuel now, pay later. The goal is financing that is transparent, secure, and easy to access, so a driver can start the day without paying for fuel out of pocket.

THE CHALLENGE
Many drivers in the informal sector do not have enough cash on hand to fill up in the morning. Without fuel there is no trip, and without a trip there is no income for the day. The credit that has traditionally covered that gap is informal and manually run: hard to monitor, expensive to maintain, and structured so a driver gets no benefit for paying on time and no way to build a credit history.
Wawcash is replacing this with something structured and digital. Doing so means combining several things that usually live in separate systems: digital identity, credit management, micro-payments, and integration with the fuel stations and payment partners drivers already use. All of it had to be simple enough to use in the middle of a working day.

THE SOLUTION
Neuro provides the infrastructure behind that combination. A driver registers and completes identity verification and KYC (Know Your Customer) digitally, and receives a wallet as part of that process. Wawcash's application connects that wallet to local banks and mobile payment providers, so credit and repayments move through the same digital rails.
When a driver applies for fuel credit, the request, the approval, and the transaction at a connected fuel station are identified and recorded digitally, with no paperwork and no manual reconciliation. Repayments and loan status stay visible in the same app the driver used to apply, which is also where Wawcash builds in further services over time: micro-savings, on-demand insurance, and other partner offerings.

THE RESULT
The most immediate change is speed of access to money and reduced costs. The platform verifies identity and tracks repayment history instead of relying on manual trust. That means drivers get faster access to fuel credit at lower rates than the informal arrangements it replaces, and steadier, more consistent income.

The second change is that applying, spending, and repaying now sit in one place, instead of being scattered across cash, paper, and word of mouth. That gives Wawcash the data to speed up credit decisions and keep costs down. It also makes the model easier to scale to more drivers and more cities.
The third is longer-term: a driver who repays reliably builds a track record. A platform built on identity and payments can grow with that record, into savings, insurance, and other services that make a driver's whole working life steadier. For a driver, that means being able to plan a week instead of just getting through a day.
